We are ideally located to service the eastern United States. The United Wood Treating plant is located near Whitmire, S.C., convenient to major interstate highways and on the CSX railroad with easy access to the Norfork Southern. Our state-of-the-art plant has been designed in concert with the Department of Health and Environmental Control. Every known precaution has been taken to insure that the plant will exceed all requirements for environmental safety. It features a seamless Hypalon underliner and an intricate monitoring system which will ensure an environmentally safe plant for the long term. Our goal is to be a top quality, service oriented, supplier of electric utility poles, piling, and treated wood products. Our location is in the center of an excellent source of pine timber, the Sumter National Forest. The plentiful supply, treatable sapwood zone, favorable strength properties, form, and availability in a wide range of sizes makes Southern Yellow Pine the ideal raw material.

Our products will be used in demanding environments. They must meet stringent requirements for strength and toughness while being resistant to rot, decay, termites, and in the case of salt water applications, the various marine borers. We have chosen a high purity, oxide formulation of Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) as our wood preservative. A CCA treated product is clean with no surface residue, odorless, easily handled, resistant to leaching and of low combustibility, conductivity and corrosivity. Our poles and piling are produced to meet the following standard specifications: ANSI 05.1, TT-W-571, ASTM D25, AWPA C1, C3, C4, C8, C10, and P-5.
